Pressure in lung with stabbing pain after eating.

Resolved Question:

In early 2012, I began to notice a slight pressure in my lung. After months of ignoring this feeling I started to receive stabbing pains, especially after I ate. I went to hospital along with blood and several other tests, I had them do a chest x-ray to see if there were any noticeable masses in my lung. There were not and my blood tests came back with nothing. Later it was found out that it was gallstones caught in the cystic duct. These were removed along with the bladder through surgery in Aug. '12 and the earlier symptoms dissipated. Fast forward to today and the same feelings of a pressure in the same lung are more than back, it is the first thing I notice upon waking. The only time I don't realize this feeling is when I'm at work. There is this feeling of a line extending from my right main brochus all the way to the arch of my rib. It also feels as though it radiates both up towards my clavicle to the back just below my scapula. There is no pain per se, just a feeling of not being right that never goes away. Occasionally, I also get these intense feelings, like riding down a steep roller coaster, that makes my upper right quadrant feel like it in freefall. And then there are times when I will feel so nauseous that I think I am going to vomit. And unfortunately it has happened once, because I could not suppress the feeling enough. I look for symptoms of cancer, and there seem to be a few. Although, I do not get winded, I can walk up hill and talk without having to pause. There is no blood in my sputum, also I have no cough chronic or otherwise. My family has no pattern of cancer. The only one that I can think of that had it was my grandfather. Which I'm sure does elevate my risk a bit, but it's not rife throughout my family. On the other hand I was a smoker from my late teens until my early 30's. I have quit over five years ago with no relapse. My questions are:1. Could this still be cancer?2. Could this be residual effect of some sort do to the gallbladder surgery?3. What other things could these symptoms be a sign of?4. How do I get this to stop?My stats are:Ht- 6'Wt- 270Age- 37Sex- MRace- White

Hello, Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.

Presence of sever excruciating pain radiating to clavicle, excessive nausea and upper right upper quadrant discomfort do not point out to Cancer. Cancer of lungs would have more specific signs and symptoms like chronic cough, blood in sputum, weight loss. You do not have any of these clinical presentation therefore you do not have cancer.

It could be complication of your gall bladder removed , your symptoms more so pint out towards Post Cholecystectomy Syndrome (P.C.S). It occurs when the gall bladder is removed out, there is pain inspite of gall bladder having been removed out.

For your pain you can take, Tylenol twice daily. I suggest you go for USG abdomen and visit your physician who will prescribe Celecoxib - 100 mg, 2 times a day after meal for 5-7 days, after which you will have to take Ursodeoxycholic acid - 750 mg, once a day in the evening for 2 months.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask follow-up questions.
