Weak arms, legs, BRAIN FOG, PVC'S. What to do?

Resolved Question:

Hello,

About a month ago I beg an having some strange symptoms. I have this all over, heavy kind of feeling. I feel like my arms and legs are weaker (though I have no visible loss of strength). I also have what I can best describe as a brain fog. As far as those I have asked my speech and behavior is normal. Occasionally I was having a sensation of dizziness, but I saw an optometrist and was given reading glasses to treat farsightedness and astigmatism. I have seen my family doctor and all he has done is recommended I have a 24 hr heart monitor test done to ensure my occaisional PVC's are really benign. I am getting really freaked out by this "off" sensation. Parkinson's, MS, ALS, brain tumor...all I can think of is these worst cases. I need some guidance I where I should go next.

Hello.
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have noted your symptoms and would like to reassure you that they are not suggestive of any serious neurological illness such as PD, ALS or MS.
I would like you to get examined by a neurologist in detail to find out if you have any focal neurological deficits. Then, you should undergo investigations such as MRI brain to make sure it is normal.
In addition, blood tests such as vitamin B12 level, vitamin D level, thyroid profile, haemoglobin level, should also be checked.
I hope it helps.
Best wishes,
Dr. Sudhir Kumar MD (Medicine), DM (Neurology)

Thank you for your feedback. I have left a message with my neurologist and I am awaiting a call back. After asking my question last night, and this morning, I felt like I had a tingling in my right foot. A couple months ago I was having some mild numbness on the pad side of my hand nearest the thumbs as well (though I attributed it to carpal tunnel pains from using the computer all day). An ergonomic mat seemed to have helped resolve that. But after my foot it got me thinking maybe they are related. I have been more aware of my own behavior too and I feel like i may have some dysphasia. I do not know if I am just looking for problems now and maybe the stress is affecting me.

Thank you for getting back.
I have noted your newly listed symptoms and they are suggestive of mild peripheral neuropathy (due to involvement of nerves in the skin of hand and foot). They are often due to mechanical compression and are not serious. They would get better with rest and relaxation and avoiding pressure on the affected areas.
Best wishes,

I was able to make a follow-up appointment with my neurologist on 8/4. The tingling sensation has resolved so now I will just have to battle the persistant lightheaded feeling til my visit. Hopefully it is nothing serious. I will try to keep in mind that you do not think I have to worry about ms, ALS, brain tumor, etc. thanks.

Thank you for getting back.

It is good to note that you are better now and were able to follow up with your neurologist.
I would be pleased to be of help in future too.

Best wishes, Dr. Sudhir Kumar MD (Medicine), DM (Neurology), Senior Consultant Neurologist.
