Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
Undescended testis increses the chances of testicular cancer.
Treatment options are two. Testis should be at position where it can be felt and palpated. If cancer develops it can be easily felt and thus detected early.
The other option is to get it removed. This negates any chances of cancer in future. Since you have completed family, it is a viable option.

Take care.
Sincerely

Suppose I opt for removal of testis, I have few query for operation.
How is operation done...by laproscopic technique or by normal procedure.? How much is stay at hospital.? I will be under local anasthesia or full anasthesia ? In how much time i will be able to resume my offshore duty at offshore oil process platform . It may be noted that i have to daily climb 400 stairs approx ( 200 up & 200 dn) daily for routine job. I remain in offshore for 14 days and 14 days is off period. After how many days i will be able to go to gym...where i do jogging ( for 05 min), walking ( 20 min) and weight training for 35-40 min. so total 65-60 min in gym. After how many days i will be able to resume sexual activity. Will there be problem in doing sexual activity or desire. Any other future problems or complications... Is operation urgent or i can plan it according to my convinience in 4-6 months.. Pl answer above queries so that i can take decision.

Dear sir
If the undescended testis is in abdomen then the surgery shall be done laparoscopically and if in the inguinal canal (inguinal region) then it shall be done open. The surgery whether laparoscopic or open shall be done under full anaesthesia.
The recovery shall depend on the technique used. Roughly, you can be back to work in 2-3 weeks and can go offshore. You shall be able to start walking (in gym) after 2 weeks, jogging after 4-5 weeks and lifting weights after 3 months.
You shall be able to resume sexual activities in 4-6 weeks. There shall be no change in your sexual activity or desire and there are no future complications.
The surgery is not urgent. The testis is undescended since birth and complication could have happened any time in the last 20-30 years. Take your time and plan the surgery. Don't panic and rush into it.
Regards.
