Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Burning in the top of the stomach and chest again point towards gastroesophageal reflux disease only.
Nexium usually provides good relief. But for complete relief lifestyle/dietary changes should also be done which you must be aware of.
These include -
1. Weight reduction if obese
2. Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol
3. Avoid coffee, citrus, chocolates , fatty food
4. Avoiding bedtime snack and going to bed at least 2-3 hours after food
If there is no relief in spite of these measures, then you need to undergo 24 hours pH monitoring to know whether you actually have reflux disease.
I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Hello.
It takes about 4-6 days before you can feel the relief from that PPI. It is better to take it in the morning, at least 30 minutes before breakfast.
If you do not find any relief by then, please get a 24 hour gastric pH monitoring done. An upper gastrointestinal tract endoscopy should also be done if it hasn't been done already.

Meanwhile, please follow the lifestyle measures mentioned previously, strictly.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr.R.K.
