Hello,
Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring. Before I let you know if it okay to masturbate, I would like to have few more details.
When did you last receive the shot of methotrexate ?
How was the ectopic pregnancy diagnosed - can you please upload any blood tests or ultrasound scans that led to the diagnosis ?
when was this episode of ectopic pregnancy ? How many days/weeks back ? And do you have any symptoms right now?
Once you let me know that, I would be able to guide you better.
Regards
Dr.Aarty

Hi,
I received the shot 2 days ago and have felt some pains. I just really want to know for the future when I can get back to somewhat normal routines.
The pregnancy was diagnosed through the pregnancy test and ultrasound and the pregnancy was forming in the fallopain tube. It was about 4 weeks along.

Hi,
Let me explain a bit to you.
Ectopic pregnancy means that the pregnancy is outside the uterus, in your case, in the tubes.
Now, methotrexate is supposed to dissolve this pregnancy sac and gradually let it resolve.
The main risk in ectopic pregnancy is that the tube is too small , compared to the uterus, and the pregnancy sac might burst out of it, rupturing the tube, and causing bleeding inside the abdomen.
During penetrative vaginal sex and during orgasm, the uterus undergoes spasmodic contractions and the tubes also, it is possible that the pregnancy might be expelled out of the tube.
Hence, both masturbation and sex are best avoided till the sac has resolved, with Methotrexate, it can take anything between 2 - 4 weeks.
Until then, lifting heavy weights, straining etc are also best avoided.
You can carry on light daily activities which do not put a strain on your abdomen or uterus / tubes.
A repeat scan will confirm that the ectopic has dissolved after methotrexate.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
