Thank you for using Ask a doctor service from Doctor Spring.

Female sterilisation is an effective and permanent form of contraception. There is a very small failure rate. It is more than 99% effective. Fewer than 1 woman out of 200 will become pregnant after sterilisation. (When no contraception is used, more than 80 out of 100 sexually active women will become pregnant within one year.) Woman become pregnant because the tubes can, rarely, come back together again after being cut. If they were blocked, the clips can work their way off - even when they have been put on correctly.

So naturally there are still some chances for you to become pregnant again after sterilisation procedure. However, if you wish to become pregnant after sterilisation procedure on your own will, then there are surgical options available to reverse the sterilisation procedure and make the tubes patent to carry pregnancy. You must discuss with a Gynaecologist about the reversal of the sterilisation procedure before opting for it as it has a potential drawback of causing ectopic pregnancy, though it is rare.

Hope this helps. if you need further help feel free to ask us.

Thank you
