Chances of living long with CHRONIC PANCREATITIS.

Resolved question:
If I have chronic pancreatitis is there a good chance I won't live very long? I read online on a medical website only half of people live past seven years following diagnosis. I'm only 20, so obviously this is very concerning. My pancreatitis has not damaged my pancreas yet, and it has always been mild.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
There are various treatment modalities for chronic pancreatitis.
I have operated on many patients with chronic pancreatitis with stones. Pancreas was connected to small bowel.Pain was drastically reduced. They are fine even after 15yrs of Surgery.
Please get examined regularly.
If the pain in the upper abdomen is more, get a CT SCAN abdomen.
Please stop Alcohol if you are taking it.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
