Diarrhea, soreness on penis head. NSU?

Resolved question:
Have taken doxycycline for one day for suspected NSU - self diagnosis. However, also other symptom -diarrhoea. How soon before I see improvement?

Had unprotected sex about one week ago. About a year ago, had NSU after unprotected sex with same partner and doctor prescribed Azithromycin - one single, large dose and that worked.

On this occasion the symptoms - soreness on head of penis was not as pronounced. After about two days though, infection seemed to have reached gut as diarrhoea occurred and has continued.

Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com.

Dear sir,
You should start seeing improvement in your initial symptoms of Urethritis at the end of 3 days of taking Docxycycline.
The diarrhoea you are experiencing is most likely due to Doxycycline - antibiotic induced diarrhoea since it presented after you started with the Doxycycline.
The possibility that diarrhoea is a part of NSU is unlikely. It will settle by itself and you need to take probiotic supplements or drinks daily.

It is never wise to self-diagnose or treat oneself. If your symptoms persist beyond day 3 of the Doxycycline course, please see your doctor.
If not, complete the course of Doxycycline while taking the probiotics simultaneously.

Let me know if you have any queries. Take care.
Sincerely, Rajiv Goel.

Thank you very much for the advice. However, the diarrhoea started before I started the doxycycline.
Please advise.

Dear Mr. Abott,
There can be some other cause of diarrhoea other than urethritis like a intolerance to ceratin food item or a stomach bug. It should settle with probiotics. Maintain good hydration. Nothing more needs to be done.

Please let me know if you have any queries.
Take care.

Sincerely, Rajiv Goel.
