on the 30th of December i was aboard and i received oral sex from a person with unknown medical history. After 45 mins i took a shower and in panic i used listerine on the tip of my penis to clean. 2 days after i was urinating a lot and felt discomfort. on the 7th day i went to a clinic and took a urine stick test and told me i have white cells so they gave me ciprofloxacin for 7 days.
After i finished the course which at that time i was back home, i was still feeling symptoms, so i went to a GU clinic. The doctor took a swab test and found an inflammation in my urethra and he told me i have NGU and he gave me doxycycline for 7 days which my symptoms improved. I also did test for chlamydia and gonorrhea and they came out negative. at the moment i am waiting for herpes,hiv and syphilis blood test which should be out next week. 1 day after i finished the course of doxy i went again to the GU doctor to let him know that i still feel some symptoms, he took another swab test and told me that the inflammation is cleared.
My concern is that i still have symptoms like frequent urination, discomfort on my tip of my penis and they come and goes. My GU doctor told me not to come back as long as the symptoms continues for 3 to 4 weeks.
Can i have you opinion on this? Many thanks

I understand your concern.
The Listerine you put on the tip of your penis induced the urethritis. The skin is extremely sensitive there and it created an inflammation.
So do not worry, it will resolve. It might have also led to an UTI. This kind of infection takes time to clear, so it can take up to 2 weeks. I suggest you continue the course the Doxycycline at least for 2 weeks and the symptoms will definitely clear away. Drink enough water, and cranberry juice to reduce the burning sensation.

How do you suggest the dosage?, i was taking twice a day, morning and evening.
Also from your experience, what's the risk of getting HIV from receiving oral sex? have you ever encountered a patient getting hiv from oral sex? i am asking because at the moment (more than 30 days from the encounter) i have the flu and i am worrying that it's a symptom of HIV.

Thank you for your follow up.
There is almost negligible chance of getting HIV from oral sex and honestly till now I have not seen any case reported like that.
So do not worry. The Listerine has created all the trouble. I advice you take Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 1-2 weeks depending on the severity.

No if you take Doxycycline, Augmentin is not required.
There are both strong antibiotics, can cause a lot of nausea and vomiting,
