Dizziness, lightheaded with headache. Treatment?

Resolved question:
A few days ago I had a headache, just a normal headache, so I took 2 500 mg Ibuprofens. About 20 minutes later I had extreme dizziness and became lightheaded. I sat down and drank some water and felt better. Ever since I have had a slight pressure in my right temple, around where the veins are. It is not painful, just slightly annoying. It can be somewhat constant, although it will come and go. I'm 20, I weigh 150, and my family has a history of high blood pressure and high cholesterol if that matters.

Hello,
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have noted your symptoms and would like to reassure you that these do not suggest any serious brain disease.
The most likely cause of your symptoms could be migraine or vascular headache. Sometimes, symptoms may last for 72 hours or longer.
As of now, you can take symptomatic treatment, such as rizatriptan or sumatriptan tablets for headache; and betahistine tablets for dizziness.
BP and cholesterol levels may be checked up to make sure they are normal, in view of family history.
I hope it helps.
Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
