Hello. Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
I need to know a few more details to be able to guide you further.
Do you pass blood in stools? Have you undergone any investigations till now? What's your diet like? What is the consistency of your stool? Is it pale/ white in color? Do you pass mucus in your stool? Is it associated with any abdominal cramps? Do you have any surgical history like gall bladder removal? Are you on any medication? Do you have any history of lactose intolerance in the past? Is your symptom aggravated after taking dairy products/ wheat?

Chronic diarrhea mostly rules out the infectious causes to an extent and can point more towards Irritable Bowel Syndrome or can also indicate some kind of inflammatory condition in your intestine, can also be due to colitis. Sometimes even a wrong diet with excessive fiber can lead to chronic diarrhea. I will advise you to get a stool routine done ( for ova, cysts, and parasites ), get your LFT evaluated, get a Thyroid profile, and also get a colonoscopy if possible. We will rule out the medical causes one by one based on the additional history you provide.
Do not worry. We will sort out your problem,
Regards

Hello.
Thank you for the additional information.
It seems that you have diarrhea predominant - Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which is a benign (harmless) and a common condition where the gut becomes hyper-reactive to stimuli such as stress, certain foods etc. Passing stools soon after eating, known as exaggerated gastro-colic reflex, is also a manifestation of IBS. The diagnosis of IBS is made once other causes of chronic diarrhea like colitis, malabsorption, thyroid disorders etc are ruled out.
Treatment, in your case, would be with anti-spasmodics (drugs which relax the smooth muscles of the gut and stop bowel movements) like Hyoscamine, Mebeverine etc.
I would suggest that you see your doctor to run the previously mentioned tests like Stool analysis, Thyroid profile, Colonoscopy and Liver function tests to rule out other causes of chronic diarrhea.
Once a diagnosis of IBS is confirmed, you can start treatment with the apprpriate medications.
Also, Metamucil (Psyllium husk) is known to be beneficial in IBS. You can soak a teaspoon of the compound in one glass of water for 15 minutes, and drink it once a day, in the morning.
I hope this was helpful. Let me know if I can assist you any further.
Thank you.
