Head feeling heavy, cold with clogged ears. Treatment?

Resolved question:
I am from Bangalore. From 4 days I've cold. From the first day, head started feeling heavy, From the second day cold stopped running through nose, but it has thickened and my ears got clogged from inside and eyes became reddish. Now eyes are normal. Still ears have not recovered. very few times a day ears are getting opened and immediately getting clogged. Ears getting clogged has become the major disturbance. There is no pain. But it is some kind of disturbance like if a ear got closed with water inside. Is it something serious or taking some medicine will cure it. If medicine please recommend the medicine.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
You seem to be suffering from an upper respiratory tract infection which also involves your sinuses.
You need to start taking antibiotics as most such infections do not resolve on its own. A course of Cap. Augmentin 650 mg twice daily for 5-7 days and Tab. Levocetirizine 5 mg once daily at bed time for 3 days is recommended for the treatment. You can also do steam inhalation which will help in loosening the mucus inside, and hence it will come out easily.
Kindly take the medicines for 3 days and update me.
Hope this was helpful,
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

I've used the tablets for 3 days. During steam inhalation some of the mucus in the head is coming out through throat. Ear has not opened yet. I feel not much improvement. Should I continue taking the same medicine or any other medicines.
Thanks

Hello,
The antibiotic that has been given works best for such infections.
You can give it 2 more days and let me know if there is improvement.
If not, you can start topical antibiotics for the clogging of your ears.
Hope this was helpful,
Regards.
