Hello,
Thank you for your query to DoctorSpring.com and your detailed description of your symptoms.
First of all, I can understand that your main concern is to determine the exact nature of the lump in your groin. Your main concern is to rule out lymphoma however given the absence of other tell tale signs like fever, unintentional weight loss or night sweats I would consider this lower on the differentials. That being said, considering that you are an otherwise healthy young male, I would appreciate if you could upload pictures of the following to info@doctorspring.com. Please not these pictures will be maintained confidential.
1)lipomas that you mentione dare present in other areas of your body
2)The groin lump (which I assume was affirmed by a physician to be lymph nodes)
3) the small hard lump in the tubing of the right testicle.
Having pictures would provide a better idea of further management. In the meanwhile, it is important for your to know that the lump could be a hernia or lymph node swelling following an STD or an infection from the lower half of your body.
Hope this helps lower your anxiety while we figure things out,
Feel free to discuss further

Unfortunatetly at this moment I am not able to provide these pictures. However, the swollen lymph node in my right groin and the lump in the tubing of my testical are not visible to the naked eye. The doctor did confirm that the lump in my right groin is a lymph node.
Could a hernia cause my lymph node to swell? Is it a good or bad sign the lymph node has remained the same size (1-1.5 cm) for 9+ months?
I am sorry I can't provide you with any images. What I am trying to decide is whether to push for an ultrasound sooner than the end of January. I am also trying to decide if I need to push for more detailed tests to rule out lymphoma.

Hi
Thank you for the follow up.
The lesions around testis have no relation to groin lymph node.
Swelling around the testis could be an Epididymal cyst and dilatation of veins called Varicocele will be confirmed by Ultrasound scrotum. But,it is not emergency. You can wait till January end.
But,you are more concerned with the lymph node. Any infection in the leg can lead to enlargement of corresponding groin lymphnodes. So,the lymph node swelling can be due to simple infection and at is present since 9 months, we term it as Chronic lymphadenitis.
The nature of the lymph node, whether it is benign or malignant /lymphoma, cannot be diagnosed with Ultrasound.
The lymph node has to be removed and sent for histopathological examination ( Biopsy ). This is the only test by which the exact diagnosis will be known.
Please consult your General surgeon and ask for Biopsy of the lymph node.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards

"The lesions around testis have no relation to groin lymph node."
I am confused about this statement. Couldn't cancer in the testis cause swelling in the groin lymph node?

Expert:  Dr. Hari Charan Perigela replied 2 Days.

Hi
Here's what i meant to convey:

Cancer from the testis will spread to Para aortic lymphnodes and not Groin lymphnodes. In advanced cases, when the skin of the scrotum is involved with Cancer, groin lymphnodes enlarge. Only when the Scrotal skin is involved does it lead to Groin lymphnodes enlargement.
enlargement.

So,do not worry.

One last follow-up question. Is the fact that they have remained the same size for 9 months a good sign? Also are there any cancers that typically lead to swelling of groin lymphnodes?

Expert:  Dr. Hari Charan Perigela replied 1 Day.

Yes that's definitely a good sign.
Normally cancerous lymph nodes change in consistency and keep getting uneven and hard.
Also apart from scrotal cancers, no other cancer will cause groin lymph node enlargement.
Wish you all the best.
Regards.
