Oral Herpes symptoms and home remedy

Thanks for the question. It is really unfortunate to know that you have got cold sores or oral herpes. Oral herpes is otherwise called herpes labialis and is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus. The variant of HSV which causes oral herpes is called HSV type 1. It infects mouth and lips primarily and can attack genital areas of the body also. It stays and infects the mucus membranes of body. It is usually seen to infect cheeks and nose also. Once infected, it will stay active in human body for a lifetime. So, it is important to prevent an infection. It is not necessary to have sexual contacts to get this virus transmitted, even though sexual intercourse is the main reason for spread. Kissing people with oral herpes can also get you infected with HSV type 1 virus. Even the infecting person may not know about the infection in him because the virus can stay dormant in human body for years. It can occur in small children and in grown-ups. It can be transmitted from children to adult also by kissing and by saliva exchange. Blisters are usually seen infecting lips but are seen to affect tongue also. Blisters can rupture to get the sores opened and a yellowish fluid is got discharged. It will disappear in a few days also. During outbreak, salivation increases and foul breath also occurs. In sometimes blisters may be accompanied by pains, muscle pains, head ache, difficulty in chewing etc. A sore throat also shows the symptom of cold sores.

In many people, yearly recurrence of herpes is seen with a milder attack of virus than that of the primary attack. In some people and in rare case outbreaks will be more frequent and severe. In such cases, antiviral medications like acyclovir and Valtrex are prescribed.
