Pain in ribs on bending head.related to HEART/MUSCLES?

Resolved question:
About me: 16 year old male, no recent medical problems.

Summary: For the past two months I have noticed pain on the left side of my rib when I look down, bend my head, or lay down. No pain occurs when I breath so I'm thinking its muscle related. However, I was wondering if it could be heart related? The pain isn't constant and goes away as soon as I sit up with straight posture. I uploaded an image to show where the pain is. Thank you.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
The area where you're having the pain can't be due to any heart problem.
It seems more like muscle related as you rightly pointed out. Do you work out/ have a history of working out/ lift heavy weights?
On a scale of 1-10 how bad will you rate the pain?
Does it disappear spontaneously or you need to take painkiller?
Kindly reply as a follow up,
Regards.

Yes, I work out once a week as well as lift boxes at actual my actual work. On a scale 1-10 I would rate the pain a 7. The pain only appears when I look down or lift my head. Its a quick sharp pain and then nothing.

Hello,
Thank you for additional information.
Yes it definitely is due to a muscle pull, as you also have a history of lifting heavy boxes.
You can take Tab. Ibuprofen or Advil ( 400 mg ) twice a day for 3-5 days, after food just to relieve the inflammation that has developed even in absence of pain.
Do get back to me if the pain becomes persistent, or it is not relieved on taking the medicine.
One more distant possibility is costochondritis, where a ligament near the rib gets inflamed. Even if that is the case, Advil will be helpful.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
