Hello I am a 41 year old female , no children . For the past few months I have been getting pelvic cramps which come and go throughout the day . I have tested for a uti and that was negative . What could cause this ?

Are your periods regular ?
Do you have normal bowel movements ?
Do the cramps occur on a daily basis ?
Do you need to take something to relieve it , or does it go away on its own ?
Have you noticed any pattern to the cramps ?
Are they very severe ?
Do they get aggravated during your periods / midcycle, or any such corelation ?

Hello , my periods are regular although i did skip a month 2 cycles ago , my bowel movements are normal , the cramps usually go away when i take aleve . I am not sexually active and have never had any std's .My period cramps have always been painful . These cramps are mild to moderate and are more like a dull type cramp but enough to hurt . they seem to come and go throughout the day everyday for a few months now .
You might be having a renal stone ?
Please get an ultrasound of the kidney region done to rule out a possible kidney stone ?
Also a pelvic ultrasounds can to rule out any possible ovarian cysts ?
These are the two conditions that could be causing such cramps..
If it was a ovarian cyst , would it go away on its own? I dont think a kidney stone because this has been happening for months . if its a cyst what is the treatment?
That depends on the type of cyst.
Few functional cyst go away by themselves or with a course of BC pills.
Infective ones might need antibiotics.
Hemorrhagic / endometriotic ones might again need surgery / hormonal therapy.
Benign / borderline / malignant ones are separately treated.
There are dozens of types of ovarian cysts, the treatment is highly individualized based on type and size.
Can a yeast infection cause this type of cramping?
A yeast infection is generally localized to the vulva and vagina.
It would cause more of itching, white curdy thick discharge, redness, burning in the vagina etc.
It would not cause such cramping.
A pelvic infection ( infection in the uterus or ovaries ) could however cause this.
It is essential to have an internal exam by an OB - GYN, a pelvic ultrasound scan and a Pap smear.
