Hello,

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.
My earlier reply seem to have disappeared ! Hence I am posting again (May be a technical error).

Pneumonia as you might know is a inflammation of the lungs mostly by bacteria or virus. This can cause chest pain as it can affect the pluera (the lung covering). The stomach pain could be due to repeated coughing.

I would like to know some additional details from you so that I can help you better.

1. Do you have fever ?
2. Do you have cough , breathlessness ?
3. Any other major symptoms ?
4. For how long re you having this symptoms ?
5. Was a chest xray / blood investigations taken ? Are they normal ?

You can reply as a followup.
Thank you

Hello,

That is good sign
In that case we are talking about a viral Pneumonia. Assuming your Doctor has diagnosed Pneumonia clinically, the chest xay being normal. Most the pneumonias will have a Xray finding.

Or it could be even simpler upper respiratory tract infection. The pain the chest should be related to the inflammation following pnuemonia. You can take a OTC pain medication like Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily with food. (In consult with your Doctor if you are taking other medications. ) If the chest pain is severe and crushing type an ECG is warranted.

An OTC anti ulcer mediation like Prilosec can help you with the stomach pain. Most likely your Doctor might have already prescribed you something similar. This is will prevent medication induced damage to the stomach lining and will prevent ulcers.

Hope this helps

The Xray actually does have chest infection

Well, that does not change anything. I hope you are on antibiotics. Do take them for the prescribed duration even if the symptoms resolve before that.

Wish you speedy recovery.

Thank you
