Safety of anal sex in heterosexual couple

Resolved question:
We are a 26 years old straight couple in a long term relationship. We are aware the anal sex is not recommended, yet we wish to do it because of personal reasons. Some quick facts about us:

1- We are both virgin and are not planning on engaging in vaginal sex.
2- We have done blood tests and both are STD-free.
3- We don't have any other sexual partner.
4- We use a condom and lots of lubricant (specially made for anal sex).
5- No tear is likely regarding the penile girth!

Knowing the above facts, is trying anal sex once in a while pose any long term risk to us (Specially to her)?

We are determined in engaging in anal sex and are willing to do anything to reduce or eliminate its long term risks.

We appreciate your advice!

Hello,

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.

Considering the information you have provided, (STD free, Condom use+) it is safe to go for Anal sex. There is no long term complications for your or your partner if you take proper STD precautions.

Do keep in mind to use lubricants liberally. Do not moving from anal to vaginal sex without first changing condoms. There might be slight pain and discomfort initially. However if there is tearing pain, sever discomfort for your partner you should not proceed with it.

Generally it is safe.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply. Do you have any recommendation on how to reduce the pain and discomfort (besides lubricant and foreplay)? The last time we had anal sex she was in a lot of pain even though she did not ask me to stop.

Also, she told me that she is scared which makes her tense the muscle unintentionally. She was asking whether there is any medication she can take (preferably OTC) to help her relax her mind and body.

Thanks,

The anal muscle and (sphincter) should relax for the experience to be painless. Pain, anxiety, stress etc will make it tight (hard to relax). Slow and steady is the best way to go here. Do not proceed if there is severe pain as it will cause anticipatory contraction of the muscle next time.

There are no safe medications recommended. (although nifedipine and NO containing medications are used sporadically ). Trial and error would be the best method to go.
