Dear doctor,
Can neurotonin be used for pain as I wish? I have been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia and neurotonin gabapentin 100mg was prescribed as anti-dote. But the bottle of neurotonin gabapentin 100mg says that one should take only 1 tablet for 3 times of a day. But I am experiencing pain only 2-3 weeks. Should I take neurotonin gabapentin 100mg regularly for this?

Thanks for your question, Neurotonin gabapentin 100mg is an anti epileptic medicine. It is otherwise called anti convulsant. It reduces pain by affecting nerves in body which causes sensation of certain kinds of pains. You may consult your doctor if you are experiencing worsening symptoms like mood changes, behavioral changes, depression, feeling of restlessness, hostility, mental or physical hyperactivity, anxiety etc. Gabapentin may impair your vision also at times. So, it is not recommended if you are about to drive your way back to home. It must not be taken with any antacids. Antacids may react with it and make it hard for your body to absorb Gabapentin. Take only prescribed amount of this medication. Overdose is simply hazardous. Taking it for a longer period than prescribed by the doctor is also equally harmful. Anyway, directions in the prescription label are to be strictly followed. Regular visits to the doctor will help in monitoring response of your body to the medication.
