Hello,

Thank you for asking your query.

This lump could be anything - A breast abscess or even a cancerous lesion requiring attention. In your case certain factor like - location near the nipple, painful swelling, superficial swelling etc, point towards a breast abscess or infective process which can be easily cured. But we cannot be 100% sure unless the swelling fully evaluated by means of physical examination and a needle aspiration. Since you have history of breast cancer in family you need to visit a Surgeon for further evaluation, without any delay.

The following needs to be done
1. A physical examination
2. A needle aspiration or Fine Needle aspiration cytology if the lump.
These are simple procedure and Your Doctor can guide you in this.
Hope this helps
