Spotting with pelvic fullness, nausea. Can I be pregnant?

Resolved question:
I'm a 33 yo healthy female. I started oral birth control last month (menses began Sat, started pill on Sun) Throughout the month, my boyfriend and I used condoms and/or he pulled out. Halfway through the pack, I start spotting (brown and clumpy) and it continued for two weeks, through the week of sugar pills. But i never got a "real" period.

I haven't missed any pills.  I have consistently taken them within a roughly 2 hour window.

I am now at the end of my first full week of the second pack and no sign of a period. I have had vague pelvic fullness, queasiness on and off and suffered from some aversion to certain smells.  No other pregnancy signs or symptoms.  I have taken 3 home pregnancy tests over the last 5 days and all are negative.

I have also been going through some challenging life circumstances the last month, including job insecurity and now it looks like I will have to move if I want to keep my job.  I was also at a beach wedding last weekend, spending lots of time outside in the Texas sun.

I feel like I'm being paranoid but am I actually pregnant?  Help!

Hello,
Thanks for writing to DoctorSpring.com with your health concern.
A lot of women do not have a period while on birth control. So do not worry.
You have been diligent with the pill, in addition to using condoms / pull - out.
Your chances of pregnancy are nil , given your negative home pregnancy tests.
Stress, the new birth control, travelling, changes in your diet or sleep patterns - can all lead to a delayed period.
So do not worry. Continue taking the pills regularly without missing any pill.

All the best & Please feel free to discuss further.
