Hi, a week ago I noticed I had a lump in my groin, I originally thought it was a hernia but my gp tells me it is a swollen lymph gland.I am waiting to have blood samples taken and analysed at the moment but that will take over a week and I'm worried at the moment!Since I visited the gp last week I have had a pain around my anus which I believe to be external hemorrhoid. Could this be linked to the swollen lymph gland? The last 24 hours I have had a slight pain behind my wars which I believe could also be glands? I had a virus about a month ago which was a severe headache, sore throat and cough, not sure if that is related either. Thanks

Hi, It seems like you have infected hemorrhoids that has caused a swollen lymph node. Lymph nodes are indicators of infection and lymph nodes closest to the site of infection swells. The lymph node will resolve if the hemorrhoids are managed effectively. Hemorrhoids are nothing but increased dilatation of vessels present in sub mucosa in anus. Yes it is true it commonly occurs in elderly. But it can also occur in people who have no proper toiletry habits.
