Dear Ms. Neha Sharma,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
Your daughter has severe anemia. Microcytic hypochromic anemia generally means iron deficiency anemia, but it is necessary to rule out underlying Thalassemia. If it is pure iron deficiency anemia, the MCV would be low, but in your daughter, MCV is 95. Hence, it could be a combination of vitamin B12/folate deficiency anemia with iron deficiency anemia. This entity is known as Nutritional anemia. This could be due to inadequate intake or excessive losses. Worm infestation, lack of adequate nutrients in diet are commonest To confirm if it is, you need to get the following tests done:
1. Reticulocyte index
2. Haemoglobin electrophoresis/ HPLC
3. A peripheral smear examination from another lab ( to confirm the smear findings).
4. Stool examination for ova/cyst/ worms
Kindly see a pediatrician or a pediatric hematologist in person. He/ she would examine the child's abdomen for any organomegaly. They would also guide you in the right duration based on the reports and examination findings.
Regards
