Treatment for rash in leg due to MOLLUSCUM.

Resolved question:
My 9 yr old son has had a rash for over 6 mos on the back of his leg. We have been to the Pediatrician several times only to be diagnosed with mmolluscum and an irritation. The crime is not working, and our Dermatologist can't see him for 8 weeks.

Dear parent,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com

I can understand your concerns. This rash is not that of molluscum contagiosum. This appears to be that of a cutaneous fungal infection called tinea corpora.
Please apply a cream containing CLOTRIMAZOLE and a topical steroid such as betamethasone or beclomethasone. In many countries, it is available as CANDID-B. Apply this cream twice daily for at least 6 weeks.
Keep the area clean and dry. The child should not scratch the area (usually these lesions are itchy). This may lead to spread of the lesions to other sites. Wishing a speedy recovery.
I would really appreciate if you would write to me regarding the response to the aforementioned treatment.
Regards
Dr. Saptharishi L G
