Tummyaches with TONSILITIS after taking PENICILLIN.

Resolved question:
My sister is 17
has tonsilitis that the hospital keeps and prescribing her with penicillin which isnt making any difference at all..
She gets extremley bad tummyaches as soon as she eats n not long after vomits it out, the doctor has prescribed her with repidite saying she has alot of acid in her tummy which isnt helping and its making her hair fall out more than usual ..
Within a year shes had appendix taken out and a bleeding stomache ulcer which has been treated
Though her stomache seems to not be settling not for long.. As this is another problem thats come up
We'v been told in past months to give her alot of calcium by the doctor as she had osteoprosis and now they seem better
Though her health in general im extremley concerned about.. Catching the fever sooo often
With extrmeley high temperature esp at night , bad sweating feeling very tired and weak and a cough which just isnt settling , passing out sooo much during days etc
Im tired of going to hospitals they just keep taking blood out but arnt dealing with the situation properly
Shes been prescribed with antibiotics soo many times due to the problems shes had i dont think they even making a difference anymore cause her bodies used to the intake
I just dont know what to do anymore its just one thing or another happening to her every so often thay needs proper attention but everything gets delayed till its late and another problem comes up .. Please help?

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
I will keep this consult open, you can upload the reports when you can.
So, your sister has recurrent tonsillitis, and she gets recurrent tummy aches and tummy upsets.
It seems like she does not have good immunity, and also Penicillin has not helped her at all.
It is better if she takes a stronger antibiotic like Augmentin 650 mg twice daily for 7 days, that is better for recurrent tonsillitis.
Regarding other symptoms, I really need to see her reports like CBC, ESR, e.t.c
For her tummy aches and issues, it seems like she has bacterial overgrowth, which causes recurrent issues. You can give her Rifaximin twice daily for 2 weeks, her stomach problems will resolve.

Regards.

Thankyou soo much doctor I defintley will upload her reports as soon as i get my hands on them Though just wanted to ask will i be able to get these medications over the counter at the pharmacy?as i am in uk Also just wanted to ask arn't they very strong medications? I mean she wont get any side effects or anything will she? Once again thankyou

No, they are not strong medicines.
There are no side effects of these drugs.
These are both antibiotics, so you will need your local physician to prescribe it for you.
Augmentin is a combination of Amoxycillin + Clavulanic acid, while Rifaximin is available by itself.

Regards.
