Why do I have recurring ringworms?

Resolved question:

Why do I have recurring ringworms? I have been fighting them for 4 months. I have had 2 rounds of pills and 3 tube of cream. Finally they were gone for a month. Now it has come back next to the one that cleared up.

Hello, the recurring ringworm may be due to various causes. However in your case it probably looks like ringworm infection known, as Tenea Corporis. It is mainly a fungal infection. They are commonly found on the skin but under certain conditions they multiply dramatically causing irritation and tissue damage. It is a Tinea infection caused by dermatophytes. They thrive in areas where skin comes in contact with inner thighs, groin and lower buttocks. It is seen in over weight, wearing tight clothing, which sweat a lot and also in hot humid weather. It is often painful and itchy but not in every case. There will be inflammation of the groin, slightly raised patch, sharp borders associated with oozing or crusting. Most of the rashes are not dangerous. I would suggest you to get complete blood tests, skin patch test and lymph node FNAC to confirm the cause. The itching can be controlled by using antihistaminic drugs like Tablet cetirizine at bedtime for 3 days and supplement with moisturizing lotions. You can also use an antifungal cream like Lotrimin cream; Cruex cream can be applied twice a day for 2 weeks. If it does not subside by then you could consult the dermatologist. Hope this helps. Thank you.
