Dear doctor, I and my girlfriend started living together for a year now. For all these days we did not have had any sexual activities, but yesterday we engaged in an oral sex for the first time. I licked her vagina and she masturbated my penis. Before starting the oral sex she told me that she was not feeling good due to the weather. But now she is having high fever. She thinks that this is due to the cold sore throat but I am very much confused about this. Neither of us did not have had any sexual activities in the past and also we have had no previous partners. So I think this is a simple cold, but I am so much concerned. Please help us to solve this problem and give us a solution for this.

Thanks for your question and concern. It sounds like your girlfriend had an infection and that infection had led to sore throat and for a high fever. The viral infections like that of the common cold are the major causes for all these infections. The bacterial infections like the streptococcus pneumonia or commonly known as strep throat can also led to these types of infections. In majority of the cases all these infections has to be cleared within a short duration of time as we can say it as a few days. It may be worth to note that some cases of herpes pharyngitis and gonococcus pharyngitis have also been found in the infected partners. Through the oral sex the Neisseria gonorrhea bacteria or simply the herpes virus can be transmitted to the throat or pharyngeal area of the sexual partner and that can easily led to the high fever and for a sore throat. If you have some suspects of a sexually transmitted infection (STI), then it would be good for both of you to get it tested. The tests for the sexually transmitted diseases can be done at the genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic. The clinic is attached within the local hospitals and is free. The consultants are available 24 hour time. If your girlfriend’s condition is not good then it would be good for her to receive a detailed examination by her physician so that he can easily determine the problems facing by her and thus he can impart the appropriate medical care to her. Sexual health is an important thing to be taken care of. So avoid unprotected sexual intercourse.
