Abnormal mucous stool

Resolved question:
I have been experiencing abnormally mucousy stool. Stool otherwise appears normal. Maybe some gassy feelings accompanying as well. No other symptoms I can think of. Is this a concern, should I get in to see a doctor?

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Some amount of mucus in stool is normal. But there is abnormally high quantity of mucus, then it could be due colitis or irritable bowel syndrome.
A stool test may be done to rule out infection.
If it shows any infection, then you may have to take a course of antibiotics.
If it does not show any infection, then a course of probiotics may be taken.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
