Hi,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com.
I am Doctor R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

The amylase level is significantly high and the lipase level can also be taken as significant when considered along with amylase.

High amylase and lipase level indicates pancreatitis. One of the most common precipitating factor is alcohol intake.

So your dad needs to stop drinking alcohol ( if he has that habit).
To assess the severity of pancreatitis, a contrast enhanced CT scan of the abdomen should be taken.

Blood glucose, lipid profile, renal function test, serum calcium levels should also be tested.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
