Alcohol withdrawal

Resolved question:
i started a detox 6 days ago. I have cut out all alcohol ciggarettes wheat and sugar from my diet. For the last three days i have been unable to sleep and have been waking myself up due to uncontrollable shaking and twitching. Previously i consumed 2-3 glasses of wine 4 days a week and smoked approx 12 ciggarettes per day. Also ate lots of chocolate. My musles also feel crampy and achy. What should i do ?

The symptoms you are experiencing are because of the alcohol withdrawal. Since you were accustomed to alcohol, the body will be in a sense physically depended on alcohol. So when this stimuli is withdrawn it can cause reactions as you mentioned above.

You are having alcohol withdrawal syndrome and this is best managed under in hospital.

You will need an Injection of Thiamine and benzodiazepine drug called lorazepam. These are prescription only medication. I really appreciate your effort to detox your body. Let these symptoms not bother you. With treatment this will resolve in few days. Please get in touch with your Doctor.
Meanwhile take highly nutritious food. Take a vitamin B complex supplement also.
