hi, i was wondering about some medications and it's affects on the birth control pill. I recently got infected wisdom teeth and i was prescribed amoxicillin trihydrate for the infection. I had sex about a week ago and i was just finishing up on the medication, i am on the birth control pill and i really need to know if the medication will lower the effectiveness of the birth control, and if there is a chance of pregnancy?

However, I advise you to use a backup method of birth control like using condoms while taking amoxicillin to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. As you say you have had sex a week back when you were on amoxicillin, I suggest you go for a urine pregnancy test after a week to be on safer side.
