Brown vaginal discharge after unprotected sex. Cause?

Resolved question:
I have recently stop taking birth control pill in November. On December 19th to 22nd I had my period and then had unprotected sex on the 23rd December, 27th - 30th December 2014.

I then had my period a couple of days early on 7th January for a few days. There wasn't too much blood, more like blood clots rather than a period.

I then had unprotected sex on 23rd, 24th and 25th January. I had then had my period on the 26th January, but it wasn't really a period - more like really light brown discharge. Which only lasted a couple of days and I didn't even need to wear a tampon at all.

I have had unprotected sex on February 3rd and 4th, I should be on my period next week.

I feel like I am pregnancy symptoms, which is fatigue, nausea, mood swings, highly emotional and sense of smell. I am unsure if I should wait until next week to take a test or today.

I apparently have PCOS, but this has never been confirmed by blood test. If it is not pregnancy, what could it be?

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
It could be one of 3 things.
1. Pregnancy or related complication - yes it is too early to test, wait for atleast a week more. If you spot instead of a proper period, better is to confirm via blood pregnancy test and a pelvic ultrasound scan.
2. PCOD - which leads to irregular and scanty periods. Confirmed by a pelvic ultrasound scan on day 2 of period, and hormonal tests - FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin, OGTT, DHEAS, Free testosterone.
3. Irregular cycles after stopping birth control - some women may need upto 3 - 6 months for their cycles to regulate after stopping birth control.
A workup as suggested above ( please include a Pap smear and internal exam by an OB - GYN ) will differentiate between these.

And your height and weight ?
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
Regards.

A pregnancy, a miscarriage, an impending miscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy, very early pregnancy as yet undetectable on home kits, a vesicular mole - all these are pregnancy-related complications.
Wish you luck, Shabnam.
