Can a diabetic get neuropathy and related burning sensation

Resolved question:

Hai doctor,

Both my mother and her father had diabetes. I am suffering from fibromyalgia and taking Lyrica for that. I also take Ultram and Vicoprofen for pain and Ambien for sleep. Now I feels myself like a prescription addict. But whenever I stop these medications, it will be paining severely. I have a very acute burning sensation in my feet also. What are the causes of this? Some of my cousins also have these along with all the above symptoms. What causes fibromyalgia? I hear many things as those causes.

Thanks for your question.

Your question about causes of neuropathy is very interesting.  Neuropathy is a resultant of many reasons. You have fibromyalgia which causes localized and generalized pain and burning sensation in feet. The medicines you are taking now are really effective in treating these symptoms. But I would like to suggest you to meet your doctor and get a full physical test including all lab studies. This can help in ruling out any other health issues which may be present. Pain management is also given concern because chronic pain is connected closely with depression. Suffering chronic pains can induce depression and can it is advised to get screened for depression. Treating according to the symptoms are the most advised and effective course for this. Have a healthy living.

Good luck.
