Can't able to lose weight after child birth.

Resolved question:
am a 33 year old female 5'3 133 pounds. My pre-pregnancy weight was 125. I have a 9 month old and am breastfeeding exclusively and can't lose the rest of the weight I gained--or rather I am too hungry to. I lost the normal weight at delivery (15 pounds) but not the rest. I easily eat between 2400+ calories a day. I am not gaining weight but not losing weight either. When I try to restrict what I eat I eventually end up eating the same amount. I have tried more protein, less carbs, more carbs less fat, every combination with no luck. I do some strength training and about 7 hours of cycling per week. Why am I so hungry? Even after a full, balanced meal I often feel like my stomach is empty. I drink a lot of water, easily 2 gallons a day. I am uncomfortable at this weight as it is mostly belly fat and when I am hydrated and have eaten (other than first thing in the morning) I look 4-5 months pregnant. Any ideas?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
In that case, do get your thyroid tested. Balanced diet with calcium and vitamin D is required while you are breast feeding. Be regular with your exercises and make them more intensive if you can. Weight loss regimen can follow once you wean off your baby. Most women start losing this excess pregnancy fat after breast feeding is complete.
Hope this is helpful,
Regards.

Thank you. Just one more question--on the thyroid, usually hypthyroid causes lowered appetite, and hyperthyroid decreased weight--so do you think it is possible to be hyperthyroid without weight loss? Or what would I want to check for?

Yes, one can be hyperthyroid without weight loss.
