Can’t attain orgasm because of Sciatica

Resolved question:

Dear doctor, I am having sciatica and have been taking gabapentin, tramadol and naproxen for it. I doubt, as a side effect, I am unable to attain an orgasm. Both I and my husband were having a very good sex life. Now, I want to know whether these pills are causing the problem or not?  If it is, what should be done next?

Thanks for the question. From your question, I understand that you are having a good sexual desire and not able to attain orgasm. So, this is something different from female sexual dysfunction. Female sexual dysfunction is a complicated subject which is usually gone undiagnosed. Your problem is probably due to sexual arousal disorder or some problem with your orgasm. There can be many reasons, which cause these problems, like hormonal disorders, thyroid issues etc. Deficit in estrogen and testosterone levels, diabetes, prolapsed uterus, damages in spinal cord etc. can cause this. Besides this, you have mentioned that you are taking drugs as naproxen, tramadol and gabapentin. Of these drugs, tramadol is a drug which can reduce libido in females. Sciatica pain can also contribute to the difficulty in attaining orgasm. Try discussing your problem with your partner so that it will help both of you. Best wishes for your sexual life.
