Chronic Constipation with anal fissure.

Resolved question:
Symptoms: Constipation, anal fissure...

Concerns: no sexual history in past 4 years; got acupuncture at non-liscensed place 6 months ago...

Ran: serological tests; no HIV or Hepatitis infection detected... Colonoscopy: found anal fissure..
EGD: found peptic esophagitis and hatial hernia....

Met with: GI doctor, said to contact him only if I have any worsening of symptoms....

Are 6 month serological tests conclusive? Am I at risk for blood borne infections from the acupuncture? What can I do in order to have a better bathroom experience? I didn't test for H. Pylori but the report suspected the bacteria might be causing the esophagitis... Am I overly concerned? What should I do? Worried... 22 year old male..

Hello,

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.

I understand your concern and will try my best to help you here :

6 months tests are conclusive for a negative HIV, HBsAg and Anti HCV - these three being the high risk infections that can be transmitted via needles. So you NEED NOT worry about these infections. Moreover acupuncture practitioners now a days use strict aseptic techniques and so your risk was already low.

The anal fissure is unrelated. It can have troublesome symptoms , but can be well controlled with medications. I would like to know whether you are any medications (pills or ointments) for this ? If so what all ?

How severe are your symptoms ? Has it improved with medications

Hope this helps

I was prescribed fiber supplements and a nitroglicerine cream in order to close up the wound. .4% ... I haven't used the cream for fear of side effects.. Just drinking fiber tablets and eating healthy.

Your Doctor has give you the recommended and an excellent treatment protocol. Please follow the suggestions. DO use the Nitroglycerin cream as it will give good relief. Continued symptoms can lead on to further complications which you need to avoid at any costs.

I'm still concerned about possible HIV or Hep infection... I got the flu shot and for a few days I had a soar throat and nausea.. is that normal?? no re-test for HIV needed?

Hello,
It is normal to have symptoms after a flu shot. What you are experiencing is very normal. Regarding HIV and Hepatitis you need not worry as 6 months tests are very conclusive. Since you tested Negative, you have nothing to worry and re-testing is not required.

I hope this has helped.
Thankyou
