Contact Dermatitis.

Resolved question:
I got a rash from a pad over a week ago. After it didn't go away for a few days, a doctor told me to get canestan cream and hydrocortisone. They helped a bit, but I have been using them for 5 days now and the rash is getting better, but it is still there. What can I do? The rash is on the area of my inner buttocks around my perineum. Thanks.

Hello

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com.

I can understand your concern.

You seem to have got an irritant contact dermatitis secondary to using the pad.

The creams that you have been using are the correct creams but cortisone cream is a bit mild and hence it may take a week more for it to work. You can switch over to mometasone cream once a day for three days, it's a slightly more potent cream than cortisone and will be better effective.

After three days, cortisone cream can be continued for another four days.

Canestan cream can be continued, also fucidin cream can be added and will be further useful, it's an antibiotic cream and will take care of any bacterial infection if present.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Take care

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

Mometasone is not available over the counter.
