Difference in strength between ACUTE VS CHRONIC FHL REPAIR.

Resolved question:
I am a 61 year old male with a ruptured achilles tendon. What is the difference in strength if I do an acute repair versus a chronic FHL repair 2 months later. Will I have problems walking etc. percentage of strength lost

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have read your question with diligence .
You will have good results with acute repair. In acute repair there are no shortening of muscle fibers. In old repair there is shortening as well as there is loss of dorsiflexion of foot upto some degree ,this may vary between surgeon to surgeon.this may also lead to loss of strength in great toe and ankle.
Hope this will help you,
Regards.
