Disc Degenerative Disease.

Resolved question:
Hi I been pain management 5 years for 3 herniated discs in neck plus 2 degenerative discs. I take three 5 mg Percocet daily. That is about 900 mg of Tylenol daily. I am a non drinker. Should I be worried about liver failure?

Hello,

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) component in Percocet is used by millions of patients without any side effects. it is true that liver related side effects can occur, but this is a very minor proportion of patients who use heavy dosage (more than 2 g per day to toxic levels ) .

So if you are using it without any troubles so far it should work fine for you in future. Do get your Doctors recommendations also.

The oxycodone component is Percocet might be habit forming though. Not a big concern if it takes care of the pain. Another approach you can try is to take Oxycodone alone (brands like Oxecta, Oxycontin etc) and see whether the pain relief is similar to Percocet. If that is the case you can avoid Tylenol altogether. Discuss this option withy our Doctor

Hope this helps
