Do I have fibromyalgia?

Resolved question:

I suffer from chronic severe pain all day everyday, I've been diagnosed and mis-diagnosed with lupus, lime disease, and recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, my major life events were my epidural in which the doctor messed up twice on, a major car accident which I was ejected from the car almost killed landed on my head and broke my nose, then had the surgery for my nose, ever since these events I suffered daily from pain, spent all my time in & out of the emergency room & started eating motrin and alleve like m&ms so my doctor freaked and started me on oxycodone 5mg 3x daily then a 2yrs he put me on endocet 10mg 3x daily over time the pills started wearing off very quickly, so yesterday he started me on morphine sulfate 15mg slow release 2x daily, I started my first dose at 4pm yesterday with no relief, didn't sleep anything at all last night because of the pain, took my 2nd dose around 4am again with no relief at all I kept my husband up all night crying in pain I felt so bad, by the time it started getting time for my 3rd dose I called my doctor he wasn't in so they scheduled me an appt for tom, I remembered that I had 4 endocet 10mg pills left from my last script, so when it was time to take my 3rd dose I took it with a morphine sulfate sr 15mg, after 30mins I finally started feeling some relief its been 4 hours and I feel much better, what do I tell me doctor when I go back to see him?

Hello, With reference to your query regarding that you have been diagnosed as fibromyalgia and have been taking various medications to have some relief. This condition is a long term one which causes pain all over the body. It causes widespread pain and extreme tiredness. The exact cause is not known, but they believe that there is disturbance in pain messages, low level of hormones as well as sleep problems. It affects more women than men, but can occur at any age. This condition is difficult to diagnose and similar to other conditions. It has many symptoms, but main symptom is pain. Symptoms usually begin after physical trauma, surgery, infection or psychological stress. In some people symptoms accumulate with no single triggering event. They will have tension headaches, Temporomandibular joint disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression. There will be a constant dull ache typically arising from muscles. It can occur on both sides of the body called tender points (18 in number). They also feel tired, sleep is frequently disrupted by pain and invariably they will have sleep disorders, restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea. Causes could be genetic, infections and physical or emotional trauma, they overreact to pain signals. Certain risk factors also play a role in this like sex (female reproductive hormones), family history, rheumatoid disease or lupus. Complications may include that it leads to other conditions or diseases, interference with your ability to function at home or on the job, frustration leads to depression and health related anxiety. As far as the treatment is concerned, there is no cure for fibromyalgia; only a variety of medications can control symptoms. In addition other supportive measures like exercise, relaxation and stress reduction may help he individual and lastly one should not give hope. Hope this helps. Thank you
