Hello Doctor. I am 57 year old. I have this erection problem from the past 4 years and started treatment 1 week back. My physician prescribed me Levitra. My question is, when on this treatment do i still be able to maintain the erection even after ejaculation?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us. Levitra is an FDA approved oral medication for erectile dysfunction. It contains Vardenafil an enzyme inhibitor which helps to maintain blood flow in the penis. It is closely related Viagra (sildenafil). The main contraindication of Levitra, is a patient with heart disease who is on treatment with drugs like Nitrates. Erection even after ejaculation is very limited but is said that the plateau phase between any two cycles of erection is very much reduced. In simple words a man gets his next erection within a very less time when compared to a normal person who is not on treatment.
