Elevated red spots with minimal itching on arm, legs.

Resolved question:
Hello,
Approximately six months ago I began noticing red spots (oval/slightly elevated) on my skin. The spots presented themselves in the area of my upper arms, chest, and upper abdomen. The spots averaged 1/4"-1/2" in length and would typically last 1-2 weeks before fading into a discoloration. Other than minimal itching, I do not have any additional symptoms. Approximately 3-4 weeks ago I observed a spot form in my armpit area that measures 1 inch in length, the largest one I have had, and that spot has not yet subsided. At any given time, at the most, I will have 3-4 spots present. In recent days, I noticed a spot form on my neck. Could you please advise what I am most likely experiencing and how to treat it.

Also, I have attached three pictures showing two spots on my upper abdomen, one spot on my neck, and the larger spot in my armpit.

Thank you,

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your concern. I reviewed the picture.

However i have a few queries

1. By spots do you mean raised areas or just discolouration?

2. What's the shape of these lesions?

Could you post a few more pics of the spots? You mentioned 3 pictures, I can see only one on the dashboard.

Thanks

Patient replied :

Yes, the red lesions are slighlty raised above the skin. After a week or two the red lesions dry out and become a faint discoloration (brownish) and are no longer raised. The shape is more of an oval than a circle. I re-attempted attaching the other pictures, one showing a lesion on my neck and the other showing one near my armpit. The one near my armpit has not been like the others, it is larger (1" in length") and is still present nearly after a month.
Thank you,
Bruno

Hello

Thanks for posting your reply.

You seem to be having a condition called pityriasis rosea. Its a viral infection and it follows its own course before subsiding. It usually lasts for 6 to 8 weeks. It doesn't require any treatment unless there is itching.

You can apply calamine lotion over it to soothe it in case of itching.

I would recommend that you visit your dermatologist who can examine it thoroughly n then opine. Its not always to confirm the diagnosis by just seeing a picture. It many need examination.

Please let me know if you have any queries.
Take care
