Foggy headed, chills with body aches, pain in ribs.

Resolved question:
Need help figuring out what I have...

Symptoms
Body aches
Chills, but no fever
Headaches
Foggy headed feeling
Burning urination
Dull back pain on left side a little under my rib cage

Got tested for a UTI today and it was negative. I'm a virgin, so therefore I am not sexually active.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
With a history of burning urination and dull back pain it points more towards a urinary tract infection, even though your reports are normal. It becomes very difficult to pick up infections involving bladder or ascending further up the tract. The other symptoms chills, body pain all suggest a bacterial infection.
I will advise you a course of Tab. Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7-10 days depending on the severity. Also, keep drinking plenty of water and cranberry juice which will reduce the burning sensation.
Feel free to discuss further,
Dr. Jay

Ok, that makes since. I had a some blood drawn today. What about puridium? Does that help/work?

Hello,
Thank you for the follow-up.
Yes Pyridium works too, but we prescribe only for severe UTI related problems.
You can try with the conventional water and cranberry, if it does not help then you can take Pyridium.

Ok, this is just purely for curiosity. Why do you think that it is a UTI even though my test was negative? Im just trying to understand.

Expert:  Dr. Jaydeep Tripathy replied 2 Days.

Hello,
I am sorry I tried explaining before, but probably was not very clear.
Some infections related to the bladder or the ones ascending further up the tract can be negative while testing urine. Because the organisms are not easily excreted, and hence even the recovery time is longer.
The symptoms you have clearly suggest an urinary tract related infection.
Please take the medicines, you will definitely feel better.
Regards.

Ok, that makes since. My blood work came back, and my mother gave me the ones that were out of 'normal' ranges.
Neutrophils - 30
Lymphocytes - 53
Monocytes - 14
Microcytes - Slight
ALT - 164
ASP - 98
Bilirubin - 2.1

Do these numbers coincide with a UTI?

Expert:  Dr. Jaydeep Tripathy replied 1 Day.

Hello,
Your ALT and I believe you meant to type to AST are on the higher side, indicating a liver pathology, could be dan ongoing hepatitis.Your bilirubin is also high which confirms the diagnosis of jaundice.
You need to get yourself evaluated for hepatitis ( Hep A, B, C, and E ). This hepatitis can also cause burning urine since there is a lot of bilirubin that gets excreted in urine leading to the burning sensation.
Regards.
