Getting yellow discharge and burning sensation while urinating

Resolved question:

Dear doctor,

I am a virgin female of 20 years. I keep on getting a small yellow discharge just before urination. It is sometimes transparent and sometimes cloudy in colour. I also experience a burning sensation or pain while urinating. Is this due to any infection? I used to wear tight under wears which may not be of cotton, at times. Moreover, I don’t drink enough water every day. Is there any relationship with both of these?  Please answer soon. Thanks.

Thanks for your question.

Discharges and pains you experience with urination are simply symptoms of urethritis. This is caused by inflammation of urethra. Causes can be infection of various types. It is better to consult with your doctor for a swab test and urinalysis for identifying the causative organism. Antibiotics will surely help with this. Drugs prescribed depends on the type of infection and your health condition. Within a few days, symptoms of your issue will be cleared. But it is advised to take the full course of medicine as recommended by your doctor. You should drink a lot of cranberry juice and water. Take care.
