Growing dark spots on skin. CANCEROUS?

Resolved question:
My friends has had a couple dark spots on her skin that have recently started to grow, she said she didn't see them at all until about 6 years ago. I'm just worried they might be cancerous.

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your concern. I reviewed the pictures.

They look like what we refer to as melasma. Its a pigmentary change on the skin due to hormonal changes.

Its not cancerous. However it would be best to consult a dermatologist who can examine it thoroughly n opine. In the picture it looks like melasma.

The treatment for it would be application of lightening agents like vitamin c , kojic acid, glycolic acid and hydroquinone but only under your doctor's supervision.

Use of a sunscreen every four hours will be beneficial and should be definitely applied.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Take care
