Resolved question:
I was given a hand job at a massage parlor today should I have concern for an std or get tested?

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Doctor Spring. There is nothing to worry if there was no contact with mouth, anus and vagina because all STD's pass through sexual contact and with fluids in the urogenital tract.

Even though there is a small possibility of transmission from skin to skin contact, that requires cut or bruises in the skin in both partners to have the infection transmitted.

In case if you do develop symptoms like burning micturition, itching in the genital area, rash or bumps, bumps near the mouth, abnormal discharge etc, you need to get a STD profile done for clarification on this.

If there was no genital contact, chances of experiencing these symptoms is also very rare. And if you do experience the cause could be due to a previous sexual encounter rather than this one.

There is no need to worry if you do not experience any symptoms until a week. And if you experience any symptoms it would be better to consult your GP and get tested for STD's.

Hope this helps. Do write to me for any follow ups.
Thank you.

Thanks for the response! I feel more guilty than anything since I love my girl friend and really mad a bad mistake today. I've told her what happened and we're working it out.
I just don't want to give her any std's she's not worried and assures me I'm over reacting but I need the reassurance for her sake.
Is it ok to engage in sexual activities with her again?
I'm going to get blood tested in 6weeks just to put and end to it but in the meantime I'd just like to know that it's a pretty safe bet that I'm fine. There was only hand on my penis contact no mouth anal or vagina.
Some other concerns I had were the masseuse did straddle my leg at one point and she only had a skimpy thing on. I could feel her vagina on my leg should I have any concerns about this as well?
Also was it this first week I should look for any symptoms and what's the earliest I can get an accurate test for everything?
Sorry for being so extensive I just want to make sure I don't make anymore mistakes thanks again for all your help!

Hello,

Thank you for writing back to me. Yes it is fine have sexual contact with her as you do not have any symptoms or lesions from STD's. But it is better to practice safe sex until you get tested, because there is a chance to pass on the infection to your partner, in case you test positive for STD's.

Testing time for STD's differs depending upon which infection you are exposed to. But in your case, as there is no clarity, you should get tested around 2-3 weeks post exposure for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas and non specific urethritis.
At 12 weeks you need to get tested for syphilis, hepatitis B, HPV AND HIV. Herpes is tested after 3-4 months, if there are no lesions from this infection.

After initial testing, even with no symptoms you are recommended to test again at 6 months post exposure.

Practice safe sex with condoms to avoid transmission of infection to your partner.

Hope this helps.
