Harmful effects of JAMP-ZOPICLONE on taking without consult.

Resolved question:
Hi,

I have taken my wife's jamp-zopiclone for more than 10 days. I didn't consult a doctor before taking it because I assumed it would be harmless and it would help me sleep. Now I want to stop taking it. I stopped taking it since yesterday, but I am afraid it might have done some harmful effects on me. Could you please guide me on what I should do next?

Background info:
- high blood pressure
- high cholesterol
- sleep apnea
- male
- 50 years old patientold

Thank you,

Ronnie

Hello
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Zopiclone is a safe drug and is used occasionally for sleep disturbance. Even if you have taken it for 10 days, it would not have caused you any problem and you need not worry about it. In future instead of medications, you may follow the steps of good sleep hygiene so that your sleep disturbance gets solved.
1) Have some aerobic workouts during day preferably in the morning.
2) Have a light dinner.
3) Completely avoid coffee/tea/alcohol/energy drinks/coke/smoking.
4) Have a warm water bath before going to sleep.
5) Dont try very hard to go to sleep. If you are not sleepy then sit on a couch or sofa and do some reading and go to the bed only when you are sleepy.
6) Avoid watching tv or working on laptop/computer or bright screens at night.
7) Keep the lighting of your bedroom dim and make your bed every morning after you wake up so that you get a cozy bed to sleep at night.
8) Use your bedroom only for sleeping and resting and do not do any other work there.
9) Avoid afternoon nap for any reason.
If you still have sleep disturbance, then you can still opt for the medicines like zopiclone, but it should been prescribed for you.
Hope this helps you,
In case if you have any further query, do let me know.
Kind regards
