Hearing strange voices in my head.

Resolved question:

Hi, I'm 18 turning 19, female. I have been hearing voices since I could remember but when the doctors asked me from age of 12 upwards I lied and said I didn't. I have attempted suicide but was caught. I have suicidal thought and have a weird behavior I have an anger problem and I am diagnosed as depressed. I do not take tablets I go to counselors. The voices are controlling my life, they tell me to do things and sometimes to other people and I see people who aren't there. I'm easily confused and hard to concentrate. I am not happy but I’m scared to go to the doctor because he'll think I'm lying, I do not like my doctor. Question is what will happen if I tell the doctor? And what is going on with me?

Hello. I understand your problem and will try to answer to best possible. The images as described by you earlier are a medical condition known as hallucinations. These are nothing but creations of the mind, which appear to be quite real. The anger and depression you are experiencing is all due to this cause. The hallucinations are of different types namely:

a)Visual hallucination: where the patient can see things that are not real.

b)Auditory hallucination: where they hear sounds like whistling, music.

c)Olfactory hallucination:sour or foul smelling odor.

d)Gustatory hallucination:perception of unpleasant taste

e)Tactile hallucination

The hallucinations can be due to various causes:

a)Delirium

b)Usage of certain drugs like marijuana, Heroine, LSD.

c)Psychiatric illness like depression, Schizophrenia.

d)Alcohol

e)Epilepsy

In your case, you are experiencing the auditory hallucinations. I can understand how frightened you are with all the happenings, but I would recommend you to consult a psychiatrist who would be able to help you with the present condition. They can get a complete physical examination and blood tests to help you with the problem. It is treatable. Hope this helps. If there are any further queries you can always ask me. Thank you.
