Heavy bleeding with ENDOMETRIOSIS/OVARIAN CYST and DEPO-PROVERA.

Resolved question:
Hello. 34 yr old female diagnosed with endometriosis/ovarian cysts 8 years old patientago (runs in family). Currently on depo provera shot for approx. 1 yr, taken previously for 5 years old patientw/ no issues and no issues in the past year. Typically have no periods or just slight spotting at end of shot. Ive had a heavy heavy period for the past 17 days straight, with extremely large clots the first week (palm sized) and mendium-small clots every days since (penny to silver dollar sized). Will appear to be a light flow and then gushing throughout the day. Must change super tampon every two hours at night. Should I go to urgent care/ER?

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
When have you had the last Depo provera shot ?
As long as you are on the Depo Provera, you should not be having heavy bleeding with clots.
You should go to the ER for immediate help with stopping the bleeding, bleeding heavily straight for 17 days can lead to anemia and many more complications.
Typically injectable Tranexamic Acid would help to ease the flow.
Later on you would need a complete assessment, that would include a pelvic scan and an endometrial biopsy to rule out endometrial hyperplasia ( build up of the lining of the uterus ), fibroids , polyp or such findings that could cause this picture.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
Regards.
