HEMORRHAGE/CALCIFICATION in PARIETAL cortex in MRI.

Resolved question:
Hi,

I wanted to see if I could get some analysis on my recent MRI results which read:

FNDINGS:

There is a 4 mm lesion in the left parietal cortex which
demonstrates low T1, T2, and diffusion signal without associated
magnetic susceptibility artifact to suggest hemorrhage, likely
representing a calcification. The brain is otherwise normal in
signal intensity and morphology for the patient's age. There are
no suspicious areas of parenchymal T2 hyperintensity. No mass
effect, hydrocephalus or evidence for hemorrhage.

IMPRESSION:

1. Tiny low signal lesion in the left parietal cortex which may
represent a calcification, most likely related to prior
granulomatous disease. This finding could be confirmed by CT if
clinically indicated.

2. No evidence of vascular malformation, vascular mass, or
enlarged cerebral vessels. If there is strong clinical suspicion
for glomus jugulare, temporal bone CT would be recommended.

Hello.
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
I have gone through the MRI brain report and agree with the radiologist's impression.
It shows a small calcified spot, which represents an old healed infection. The most common infection that does so is a tapeworm infection (called neurocysticercosis).
As it has healed no further action is needed.
In some cases, it may cause seizures, when we need to start anti-epileptic drugs.
I hope it helps.
Best wishes,

Patient replied :

There is no further concern of a tumor or anything developing from this lesion?

Expert:  Dr. Sudhir Kumar replied 3 Days.

Hello.
No a tumor from such a lesion is not possible.
It has already healed and calcified. No further development is possible in this lesion.
Only at times it can cause seizures. In that case treatment with anti-seizure medication will be required. But even for that prevalence is low.
Hope that was helpful,
Regards.

My symptoms are:
- Dizzyness/unsteadiness when standing and walking
- Feeling vibration in the head/left arm
- Feeling super fullness in the head.

THought htis would be related?

Thank you for getting back.
I have noted your symptoms and they are not related to the MRI brain finding.
It may be useful to exclude vitamin B12 and D deficiency. Also, a detailed neurological examination would be useful.
Best wishes,
